“I’m here because my grandmother told me to come…” (quotes from a number of teenagers on this camp – well done Grandmas!)
“I’ve learned that it’s really important to share our faith with others, and I really want to be more a part of that in my church…” (15 yr old girl, end of the Tahi camp)
“I’ve learned that Jesus is the best prize anyone could have…!” (15 yr old guy, end of the Tahi camp)
It was a joy to hear the feedback from some of the teenagers at the end of the 2016 summer day camp in Tahitótfalu. Dan & Sophie (coming for the first time), together with ‘old-timers’ Carl, Louise, Ryan, Will, Andy and Anna travelled over for our our 5th camp partnering with the Baptist church in this small village located north of Budapest, on the beautiful Danube bend. Interspersed with football chanting and Euro ’16 match-viewing, this camp was filled with English-speaking, games, quizzes, Hunt-the-Leader and a crazy (yet brilliant) combo event: “Grill-a-Christian Ceilidh”!
The message of Jesus from Luke’s gospel was clearly presented, and a highlight of the week were the many personal conversations had with the young people during discussion groups and beyond.
The welcoming hospitality from church family members to the UK team was both deeply touching, and humbling. As always, it was wonderful to share in the mission of this church, to reach out to the teenagers of the area and their families. We were glad that many could come to the church service at the end of camp, and we pray on for this church as they love and serve the young people of their village.

Part of the vision of the church is to reach out to families on the outskirts of town…they’re so grateful for the opportunities that partnership with ACORNCAMPS provides with this mission!
