The Camps

ACORNCAMPS VISION: to share the gospel with Hungarian teenagers through partnership with Hungarian churches running English language Christian camps.

 

In 2012 we are excited to be running 8 camps – six in Hungary, and two in Hungarian speaking Slovakia:

Saturday 30th June – Sunday 8th July:

  • Vác
  • Tahitótfalu

Saturday 7th – Sunday 15th July:

  • Siklós
  • Hosszúszó (Slovakia)
  • Kelenföld

Saturday 14th – Sunday 22nd July:

  • Budaörs
  • Kecskemét

Saturday 21st – Sunday 29th July:

  • Farná (Slovakia)

 

To ENCOURAGE local churches through running these camps for Christian teenagers and sharing the message of the gospel to local young people.

 

To SERVE God wholeheartedly with a full and fun programme of Bible talks, discussion groups, games and activities including sport, craft, competitions, days out, and evening entertainment. This year’s theme is London 2012 Olympics with potential for torch bearing, opening ceremonies, handball and medals!

 

We are recruiting team members for camps, and are seeking those with a heart for cross-cultural ministry, short-term mission and working with teenagers. Camps start on Monday, and there are opportunities for sightseeing and team-building usually before and after camp.  Team members must be aged 16+, but there is no upper age limit!

 

Don’t panic! You are not expected to be able to speak Hungarian!
Weather: Usually tantastic…35°C-40°C plus!
Team training: Fri 20th April 7-10pm – Sat 21st April 9am-5pm, Sheffield.
Costs: £335 (plus £55 for each additional camp) all inclusive.  Each camp has its own flavour but all are noticeably similar in aim and style.  Camps start on Monday, and there are opportunities for sightseeing and team-building usually before and after camp.
