Summer 2012 teams
We’re now taking your applications for leaders and helpers on camp. Many of our staff team come back year after year, which is very encouraging, especially for the young people on the camps. They are also excellent at making new faces feel welcome.
Simply email louise if you’d like to be on one of our teams this summer!
Residential Camp Centre
With almost 10 years of experience running camps in Hungary we are now starting to think seriously about establishing a permanent camp centre in Hungary.
What is the plan?
We have been looking for several years at properties and land that might be suitable. This has enabled us to understand more about what is available, the likely costs and the pros and cons of different options.
We believe that a centre should be able to accommodate a camp of about 50 teenagers and a team of leaders. This means sleeping accommodation, kitchen, dining room, large meeting rooms, small meeting rooms and space for all the other important things like table-tennis.
In order for the centre to be as self supporting as possible we are considering opening a language school in the centre that would give Hungarians access to native English speakers, something that is usually only found in the most expensive schools.
Why?
A permanent centre in Hungary would:
- Enable us to work with a larger number of churches to build up their youth work, train youth leaders and supplement their skills and resources
- Allow us to adapt a building and land specifically to serve and grow the camp work rather than having to hire a centre and bring all the camp resources with us
- Work all year round in Hungary building relationships and developing new ways to support churches
Interested?
‘We know that ‘in his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.’ (Prov 16:9)
We’re really excited about the opportunities that a camp centre would create. If you are too there are a number of ways that you can get involved:
- Pray for us.
- Give money to help us plan for, buy and develop a site. Click here for more information.
- Give expertise. If you have particular skills that might be useful please get in touch
News from the Winter Camp
The Winter Camp went really well with 24 teenagers coming from different camps. It was really encouraging to see some old faces and teenagers who were challenged and built up in their faith.
The weekend was themed around the TV series 24 with the evening talk on Saturday centred around the theme of redemption from Mark 10:45.
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give his life as a ransom for many”
